Keep-It-Simple Devo (Wk5/Day1)

Hebrews 12:1-3—Since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. 2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the Champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting Him, He endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now He is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. 3 Think of all the hostility He endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up. (NLT)

What are the three impacts of keeping our eyes on Jesus?

Why does considering Jesus’ patient endurance help us with our own?

Messiah, You endured so much for me. You accepted me without giving my sin a pass, You bled and died so I wouldn’t have to let sin kill me, and You went all the way to the finish line so I can have You and eternity. Give me so much of You that I require so much less of this earthly life to be full. Forgive the sin that seems to always trip me up and exorcise it from my life. Help me to endure the temptations of the darkness and the trials of this life so that I become more like You today. I believe in the name of Jesus, Amen.
