Keep-It-Simple Devo (Wk3/Day2)

Revelation 2:1-5—Write to the angel of the church in Ephesus . . . ‘I know your works, your labor, and your endurance, and that you cannot tolerate evil. You have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not, and you have found them to be liars. 3 You also possess endurance and have tolerated many things because of My name and have not grown weary. 4 But I have this against you: You have abandoned the love you had at first. 5 Remember then how far you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first.’ (HCSB)

God sees what He’s already accomplished up to this point in maturing us into who He’s making us to become. How do you recognize you’ve matured in the last year?

What is the ‘love you had at first’ in your life that you may have left unfinished spiritually?

Lord, You famously told your first disciples that whoever would become as little children would be the ones who most reflect Your Kingdom’s spirit. If I need to return to an elementary spiritual thing so I can do the works I did at the first, show me what that is and I’ll do it out of childlike love for You. I know I need to feel the simple joy of being a child; I can feel this need deep within me. Whatever has made too much of an adult, I pray you’ll help me to mature back to my child’s soul. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
